## On Divers Arts - Theophilus
[Book](https://books.google.com/books/about/On_Divers_Arts.html?id=MMiLTJqvYnYC)
In the 12th Century, Theophilus wrote an entire book on how to set up a goldsmith shop, do painting, glass, and metalwork. It is the oldest extant book on these crafts written by a practicing artists. Apparently most manuscripts written before then were done by scholars and philosophers outside of the profession.
As such, it serves as an excellent resource for me on period enameling and metalwork techniques. I reference it regularly. His book is even referenced in the [[#Enamels of Limoges]] book.

[Book](https://www.kcenamels.com/enamel_book2/files/ReliefEtchingByCoralShaffer.pdf)
Resource and practical experience treatise on the various ways to apply resist and etch metal for Champleve enameling. It's old so some resources are a little antiquated, but the content as a whole still applies really well to enameling, especially with what I do.
